Lot 64 Chinese Bronze Ritual Food Vessel

This antique Chinese bronze ritual food vessel is cast in a globular form constructed in two primary sections: a deep, rounded body and a conforming domed lid. The body is supported by three cabriole-style tripod legs and features two upright, flared rectangular handles at the shoulders. The lid is surmounted by three scroll-form finials which serve as a stable base when the lid is inverted for use as a bowl. The cast bronze surface is covered in a dense, multi-colored patina with heavy mineral encrustation present throughout the exterior and interior surfaces.
